Our founders, Jerry Mao and Derek Sulger, together with the leadership of UCCA’s director Phil Tinari, led the formation of UCCA Group and its related foundations and activities with a mission to bring the best in contemporary art to an ever-wider audience, and position China and its contemporary art within the global cultural conversation. This began with the transformation of UCCA’s original location, UCCA Beijing. Since then, UCCA has consolidated its position as a leading art museum in China—ranked number one in the annual HiArt Museum survey for six years running— and gained further international recognition as the most globally important institution in the region. Further, UCCA has expanded into a constellation of four museums – UCCA Beijing, UCCA Edge, UCCA Dune, and most recently UCCA Clay that have collectively welcomed 10 million visitors, engaged with millions of viewers and subscribers online, and generated billions of annual impressions for its cultural activities.
